Schematic

Schematic turns the existing project supply and distro connections into an editable drawing. It is available with Engineering access and is no longer restricted to beta-enabled workspaces.

Place your project system

Open Engineering > Schematic and choose Place Power Source. Select an existing manual power source from the popup; its connected downstream distros are brought onto the current page automatically. Create supplies and electrical connections in Power Sources and Distro Editor first.

The picker identifies supplies already placed on this or another page. Symbols show names, types and forecast load information. Red outlines identify three-phase symbols and blue outlines identify single-phase symbols; power sources have matching light backgrounds.

  1. Place the required power sources.
  2. Drag symbols to their preferred positions using Move / Select.
  3. Use Show/Hide Distros to control the visible branches. Child distros are indented beneath their parent. Hiding a parent hides its downstream branch and connecting cables without deleting the electrical design.

Pages and drawing tools

Create multiple pages for larger projects. Default titles follow Project Name - Power Schematic - 1, with the number increasing for each page; titles can be edited. The drawing uses an A0 landscape aspect ratio and starts at 50% zoom.

Draw Rectangle, Draw Line and Add Label return to Move / Select after placing an item. Rectangles sit behind the system and can have a title at the top or bottom, an RGB fill colour and transparency. Select an unlocked rectangle to resize it using its corner handles.

Selected-item controls appear below the drawing so the schematic does not move when an item is selected. Lock Position, Lock Route and drawing locks protect items from accidental movement. Undo and Redo retain up to 20 editing steps.

Auto Layout and rectangle groups

Auto Layout arranges the supply flow left to right with branches stacked top to bottom. It considers cable crossings and symbol clearance, reorders connected groups and moves and resizes rectangles around the symbols they contain.

Place distros inside rectangles before applying Auto Layout to treat those rectangles as groups. The optimiser can reorder cards within a group and move groups to improve routing across the sheet. Review the result: complex connections and unusual groupings can still need manual adjustment.

When locked items are present, the confirmation offers Unlock All and Move. This removes all symbol, cable and drawing locks on the current sheet and resets routing pins before arranging it. Cancel leaves the sheet unchanged. The operation can be undone.

Cable routing, labels and colours

Automatic routes are horizontal and vertical, with direction arrows along the line. Routing attempts to avoid distro cards, cable crossings and overlapping parallel runs. Select a cable and add routing pins for a manually adjusted route; drag a pin to move it and double-click a pin to remove it. Reset Routing removes the selected cable's pins.

Cable type and output number come from the electrical connections in the project. Where Cable Design has been configured, the label can also show conductor size, length, parallel runs and capacity. Hide cable design labels removes that extra design detail while retaining the connection type.

Drag cable labels along their cable to improve readability. Cable & Label Colour uses one RGB colour for the cable, flow arrows and label border, with a light matching label fill to retain readable text. Cable notes are stored on the schematic connection, not as an alteration to the equipment schedule.

Drawing routes do not set design lengths

Moving symbols, resizing rectangles and changing routing pins do not change cable-design lengths or electrical connectivity. Keep Cable Design data accurate independently of the drawing. The schematic is indicative and not to scale.

PDF exports and saved data

Export Schematic PDF exports populated schematic pages with the company report header. Empty pages are excluded. In Reports > Export PDF, Include Schematic is offered when a schematic has been created; report order is System Overview, Schematic, then Distro Reports.

Schematic pages use landscape orientation and are scaled to match the report pack's page size. Visibility choices, cable colours, labels, rectangles and notes are retained in the drawing export.

The schematic is saved with the project, including its pages, positions, drawings, cable notes and visibility settings. Hiding or removing a source from the drawing does not remove that source or its distros from the project.
