Manual Loads

Manual Loads is primarily intended for sign-off-only projects, allowing electricians to use known circuit or phase loads in the calculation tools without assigning individual equipment items.

Getting started

Open Engineering, then Manual Loads. Use View to select a distro, or view all distros. Expand its table and enable Show unused outputs to enter loads on circuits without equipment assignments.

  1. Choose Manual load to replace the equipment contribution, or Equipment + manual to supplement it.
  2. Enter the value and select W, kW, VA, kVA or A.
  3. Set power factor and diversity as required, and add supporting notes.
  4. Review the calculated current and the upstream system totals. Entries save with the project.

Choosing the load source

Equipment load uses the assigned equipment. Manual load uses your entered value instead, while retaining the equipment assignments. Equipment + manual includes both contributions.

Outputs feeding another distro take their load from that downstream distro. Use Open Distro to expand and navigate to it; its heading pulses yellow for two seconds.

Unallocated phase loads

Use L1, L2 and L3 entries when a phase total is known but the individual circuit loads are not. These entries contribute to distro, source and phase totals and propagate upstream.

Unallocated phase entries add to output loads. Do not enter the same demand at both levels. Individual output loads are needed for circuit cable and protection calculations and G2 circuit selection.

Overview, cable calculations and reports

Manual loads appear in the main System Overview and advanced calculations. Cable Design identifies applicable circuits with Manual load or Equipment + manual labels. Output-level manual loads supply the design current used for cable and protection calculations.

Advanced PDF exports include manual-load information and notes. Manual values are retained when refreshing a matching distro model.

Using manual circuits in G2

Open System Sign-Off, then Include Circuits (G2), to select manually loaded outputs for the test schedule. Expand a circuit to inspect its manual value and calculation details.

Assigned equipment displays N/A for manual-only circuits. Equipment + manual circuits still list their equipment. Manual demand entries do not replace inspection or measured test results.
