Project Templates

Project Templates let administrators turn an exported project into an approved starting structure containing power sources, distros and their connections.

What a project template is

A project template is a workspace-managed starting point for repeatable temporary-power structures. It is created from an exported .lvapower project and is available only within the relevant company workspace.

Creating a project from a template makes an independent copy. Later project changes do not alter the template, and template changes do not rewrite existing projects.

Preparing a template

Build a normal project containing the required manual power sources, distro instances and downstream connections. Give sources and distros clear reusable names, locations and notes, then export the project as an .lvapower file.

  1. Build and review the reusable source-to-distro structure.
  2. Export the project from the planner.
  3. Open Admin Portal and select Project Templates.
  4. Enter a template name and description, select the exported file and upload it.
  5. Leave Available selected so workspace users can choose it when creating projects.

Information retained

The template retains manual and automatic power sources, distro instances, ordering, source assignments, downstream distro relationships, output structures, required project-specific distro definitions and intrinsic protection that belongs to the distro model.

Physical structure retained

Intrinsic incomer and output protection remains because it describes the physical distro. Project-specific engineering studies are removed.

Information removed

Template sanitisation removes equipment assignments, quantities, circuit notes, manual loads, diversity, power-factor overrides, cable selections, cable verification, fault-design inputs, generator assignments, report configuration and project-specific information.

Sharing, collaboration state, report links, electricians, G1/G2/G3 data, completion records and sign-off versions are not carried into the new project.

Creating from a template

Select Create Project beside My Projects. When usable templates exist, choose From a template, select the required template, enter the new project name and confirm. If no usable template exists, the creation window automatically creates a blank project.

After creation, complete the new project information and add equipment, loads and engineering data for that event.

Managing templates

Workspace administrators can rename templates, update descriptions, make them unavailable, download their sanitised data or delete them. An unavailable template remains stored but is hidden from the project-creation window.

Review before publishing

Uploaded projects are sanitised automatically, but administrators should still confirm that the retained source and distro structure is appropriate as a reusable workspace template.
