Advanced Calculations
Advanced Calculations Overview
Advanced Calculations adds an advanced system overview, load and demand calculations, and cable sizing and voltage-drop design without changing the Distro Editor workflow.
Availability
Advanced Calculations is an optional workspace feature. The tab appears only when advanced features are enabled for the current workspace.
The standard planning tabs remain unchanged. Equipment, quantities, output assignments and downstream distro connections continue to be managed only in the Distro Editor.
Advanced Calculations reads the live circuit structure from the Distro Editor. It stores calculation assumptions against those outputs rather than creating a second equipment schedule.
Advanced Overview
Advanced Overview is the first subtab and opens by default. It shows project warnings followed by an overview calculated using advanced load and demand values.
Warnings with editable advanced assumptions can be expanded using Review. Make changes in the expanded row and select Save changes to commit them. This prevents a warning disappearing while a value is only partly entered.
- Review advanced warnings before issuing reports or cable calculations.
- Expanded warning fields use a draft until Save changes is selected.
- Changes saved from a warning are also reflected in Load & Demand.
Load & Demand
Load & Demand is the calculation table for project power factor, circuit diversity, apparent load and calculated current. Equipment and connected load are read-only because they come from the Distro Editor.
Use this subtab to enter design assumptions, compare connected and design loads, and review totals by distro and phase.
Cable & Protection
Cable & Protection uses the design current from Load & Demand to calculate adjusted cable capacity, utilisation, section and cumulative voltage drop, and estimated end voltage.
Cable values can come from the shared global cable library or from project-specific custom data. Library values are copied into the project as a snapshot so an existing design remains traceable if the library is revised later.
The current release provides cable sizing and voltage-drop design. Protective-device and disconnection-time assessment is planned but is not yet calculated by this tab.
Cable Library
Cable Library is the final Advanced Calculations subtab. It is an administration-style project view for controlling which cable ratings appear in Cable & Protection and for creating reusable custom records for the current project.
All active standard-library and project custom records are included by default. Inclusion choices and custom records are saved with the project and do not affect other projects.
Design responsibility
Advanced results are indicative design calculations. Cable selection, installation method, correction factors, protective devices, earthing arrangement and site conditions must be checked by a competent designer.
Designer verification records that the displayed cable data and installation assumptions have been reviewed; it is not an electrical completion certificate or a substitute for inspection and testing.
Do not treat a Pass status as proof that an installed system complies with BS 7909, BS 7671 or site-specific requirements.
